The Back Abbey in Upland opened in September 2022 as the second location of The Back Abbey, proudly expanding from our original home in downtown Claremont, California.

Like our sister location, we are deeply dedicated to an extensive and carefully curated selection of Belgian beers, complemented by German classics and other notable European brews.Our kitchen focuses on quality food inspired by Belgian and German traditions, thoughtfully reimagined through a California perspective, we source fresh and local ingredients, with everything curated in-house.

In 2026, we proudly partnered with Belgium’s renowned St. Bernardus Brewery, becoming the only U.S. destination and one of just three worldwide outside Watou to represent the brand, united by a shared passion for authenticity, craftsmanship, and exceptional beer. Like our Claremont location, our commitment to flavor, quality, and hospitality has transformed The Back Abbey into a true culinary, beer, and cocktail destination. Our love for Belgian beer, especially the iconic St. Bernardus brews is at the heart of everything we do.

Much like our menu, our goal is to offer a unique spin on the expected: a place that celebrates thoughtfully prepared cuisine, exceptional Belgian beers, and carefully crafted cocktails designed to be shared among familiar faces.
